
CHARGERS DOWN RED FLASH IN FIVE SETS
Loretto, Pa. (2/21/25) The Dominican University New York opened a quick weekend two match series with Saint Francis University tonight at Degol Arena in Loretto, Pa.
The Chargers outlasted the Red Flash in five sets and took the decisive fifth set by a score of 19-17.
The Chargers improve to 2-11 overall on the season while the Red Flash fall to 1-11.
Both teams traded wins to begin the match as the Chargers earned wins in the first and third sets by a score of 25-22 each. SFU came back to tie the match twice with a 25-18 win in the second set and a 25-17 win in the fourth set.
Both teams traded points early on in the fifth set until Saint Francis took a 7-5 advantage. DU answered with a 5-1 run to go up 10-8. Saint Fancis scored the next four points to take a 12-10 lead but the Chargers scored the next two points.
Tied at 17-17, Dominican secured the win after back to back kills by Ayden Shaw and Blake Krapf ended the match.
Krapf led the way with 20 kills while also adding three service aces and two block assists for 24 points. Krapf also recorded five digs.
Shaw contributed eight kills while also picking up five digs and three block assists. Tommaso Falchi had a team-high five block assists while recording seven kills. Gavin Tate finished with five kills and five digs.
Tyler Roukey added a team-high 12 digs while Jamel Toste finished with a team-high 34 assists.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow night for a rematch with Saint Francis University at 6:00 PM.
