
CHARGERS SWEEP YELLOW JACKETS IN ECC OPENER
Springfield, Mass. (2/26/25) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team opened conference play with a 3-0 win over the Yellow Jackets of American International College at the Henry Butova Gymnasium.
The Chargers opened their East Coast Conference (ECC) schedule with a win to improve to 3-12 overall and 1-0 in the ECC. AIC falls to 2-9 overall and 0-1 in the ECC.
The Chargers opened the match with a 25-13 win after closing out the set on a 16-7 run. The Chargers used a 9-4 run in the second set to gain the lead and held off a late push by AIC to earn a 25-22 win for a 2-0 advantage.
Dominican closed out the sweep with a 25-20 victory in the third set.
Blake Krapf finished with a team-high 12 kills and one block assist for 12.5 total points while also adding a team-high nine digs.
Ayden Shaw picked up nine kills and two service aces for a total of 11 points scored. Shaw also had seven digs.
Daniel Malcolm recorded six kills along with one service ace and three total blocks, two solo and one block assist. Gavin Tate, Tommaso Falchi, and Phillip Kurisko each finished with four kills. Jamel Toste recorded a match-high 39 assists.
The Chargers return to action this Saturday when they play a doubleheader with Roberts Wesleyan University. The opening match at 11:00 AM with be an ECC contest and match two at 1:00 PM with be a non-conference match.
