
# 6 SOFTBALL SWEEPS GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (4/30/11) The Dominican College softball team, currently ranked sixth in the NCAA East Region Rankings, swept Goldey-Beacom College by scores of 3-2 and 3-1 this afternoon in the final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header of the regular season in games played at the DC Softball Field. DC improves to 29-15 overall and 19-7 in the CACC.

Orangeburg, NY (4/30/11) The Dominican College softball team, currently ranked sixth in the NCAA East Region Rankings, swept Goldey-Beacom College by scores of 3-2 and 3-1 this afternoon in the final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header of the regular season in games played at the DC Softball Field. DC improves to 29-15 overall and 19-7 in the CACC.
Game One: DC took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning as Shelby Wassmann (Loudoun, VA) and Ashley Martinez (Bloomfield, NJ) got back-to-back singles to put two runners on. Sophomore Kathryn Coles (Farmville, VA) sacrificed both runners with a bunt and pitcher Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) hit a key two run double.
The Lightning got on the board with a run in the sixth inning, but the Lady Chargers added an insurance run the bottom stanza on the RBI double by Julie Plante (Swansea, MA) to regain a two run advantage, 3-2.
GBC scored a run in the top of the seventh, but Childers got a two out ground out for the 3-2 Dominican victory.
First baseman Paige Berzak (Cypress, CA) went 2-3 in the game.
Childers improved to 17-6 with the complete game victory, allowing two runs on five hits.
Game Two: Goldey-Beacom scored first in game two with a run in the top of the third for a 1-0 lead, but Dominican rallied to tie the contest, 1-1, with a run in the bottom stanza. Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) got a one out single and advanced to third on the single off the bat of Plante. Jeppson scored on a wild pitch.
Dominican added two runs in the fifth inning with back-to-back RBI singles by catcher Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) and Wassmann for the 3-1 lead and eventual victory.
Jeppson went 2-3 with two runs scored in game two.
Right-handed hurler Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) picked up the complete game win (12-7), allowing just one run on three hits and striking out six batters.
