CACC Notes
Caldwell - The Cougars advanced to the final day of the CACC Tournament for the ninth straight year before being eliminated by Georgian Court. The loss did not end Caldwell's season, as the Cougars will be making their seventh appearance in the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament in the last eight years. The sixth-seeded Cougars will take on third-seeded Molloy in the first round on Friday, May 13 at the C.W. Post Softball Complex in Brookville, N.Y. Senior Brittany Pulido tossed a three-hit shutout against Wilmington in the first game at the CACC Tournament. The win allowed Pulido to match the school record for career victories (74), set by former All-American Corinne Reiser from 2001-04. Senior Patti Garofolo and junior Kelly Ryan both made the All-Tournament Team.
Concordia - The Clippers finished the regular season with a 20-6 CACC record and were named 2011 Regular Season Co-Champions. Concordia split the Holy Family series and then went on to sweep Philadelphia University the following day to finish the regular season. The Clippers, seeded #2 in the tournament, unfortunately fell in both of their day one games and were eliminated.
Dominican - The Lady Chargers claimed their second straight CACC Tournament title and will make their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Felician - Senior OF Amber Doran had four hits, including a double and a home run, in Felician's two losses in the CACC Tournament. The Golden Falcons were making their first appearance in the event since 2007.
Holy Family - Holy Family closed out the regular season with a 2-2 record this past week. The Tigers split a doubleheader with Concordia College on Monday (L, 6-1/W, 5-2) and then split a pair of games with Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday to wrap up the season (W, 11-0/L, 6-1). In game one at Chestnut Hill, junior Cassandra Fitzgerald-Black entered the game tied for the most home runs in program history with 17 and before the first inning was even over, she held the mark all by herself. Fitzgerald-Black hit a two-run homer in the first frame and then in the top-half of the third, launched her second home run of the game and 19th of her career. She finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate to go along with a season-high six RBI and three runs.
Philadelphia - The Rams just missed a third-straight playoff berth, but fell 3-2 in eight innings to CACC power Concordia to fall out of contention. In that game, freshman infielder Meaghan Lewis had both RBIs for the Rams. The team ended the season 18-21, 12-14 in the CACC.
