SOFTBALL FALLS ON DAY ONE AT NCAA EAST REGIONAL

Brookhaven, NY (5/13/11) The #5 Dominican College softball team fell to the fourth-seeded Owls of Southern Connecticut State University, 1-0, this afternoon on day one of the NCAA East Regional being hosted by #1 Dowling College. In the first game of the day, #8 Merrimack edged #1 Dowling College, 3-2.

Brookhaven, NY (5/13/11)  The #5 Dominican College softball team fell to the fourth-seeded Owls of Southern Connecticut State University, 1-0, this afternoon on day one of the NCAA East Regional being hosted by #1 Dowling College.  In the first game of the day, #8 Merrimack edged #1 Dowling College, 3-2.

With the loss Dominican falls to 34-17 on the season.

The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning on a lead-off solo home run for the 1-0 victory.

The Owls ou thit the Lady Chargers 5-4 in the game.

Sophomore left-handed pitcher Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) suffered the complete game loss (20-7), allowing one run on five hits.

Dominican falls into the loser's bracket of the East Regional #1 Tournament and will take on the top-seed and host, Dowling College, in an elimination game tomorrow at 1:30 pm.
