SOFTBALL SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER WITH GREYHOUNDS
Clermont, Fla. (2/28/23) The Dominican University New York softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Assumption University in games played today at The Spring Games.

Clermont, Fla. (2/28/23) The Dominican University New York softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Assumption University in games played today at The Spring Games.
The Lady Chargers rallied to win game one, 6-5, but fell in the nightcap, 6-2.
With the split Dominican now stands at 1-5 on the season.
Game One: The Greyhounds held a 1-0 lead when the Lady Chargers plated a run in the bottom of the second on the two out RBI double to right field by Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) to tie score at 1-1. AU retook a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning, but Dominican rallied in the bottom stanza as left fielder Emily Angulo (Wilmington, Calif.) delivered a two out two-run RBI double to right field for a 3-2 lead.
Assumption scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to claim a 5-2 advantage, but the Lady Chargers got a run back in the bottom half of the inning on the solo home run by Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.). Dominican re-tied the game in the seventh on a passed ball and scored the game winning run in the eighth on the RBI single to left field by Emma Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.).
Kaszovitz went 3-4 in the game, while Chloe McIntosh (Meifee, Calif.) and Ridge each had two hits.
Starter Emily Baxter (Bucoda, Wash.) picked up the complete game victory, while striking out four batters.
Game Two: Assumption held a 1-0 lead after one inning, but a run-scoring single to center field by Ridge in the top of the second tied the game at 1-1.
Dominican took a 2-1 edge in the fourth as Nicole Mata (Sylmar, Calif.) produced a two out RBI double to left field. The Greyhounds scored three runs in the fifth and added two more runs in the sixth inning for the 6-2 win.
McIntosh and Ridge both had two hits in the loss.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Thursday when they take on Washburn and Gannon at The Spring Games.
