WARRIORS TAKE TWO FROM DOMINICAN
Stroudsburg, Pa. (3/19/23) The Dominican University New York softball dropped both games in their non-conference doubleheader this afternoon to East Stroudsburg University.

Stroudsburg, Pa. (3/19/23) The Dominican University New York softball dropped both games in their non-conference doubleheader this afternoon to East Stroudsburg University.
The Lady Chargers fell in game one by a score of 9-0 in five innings and then dropped game two by a score of 10-6. Dominican now holds an overall record of 3-15.
Game One: The Warriors opened the doubleheader with a 9-0 victory in five innings. Paige Zigmund started on the mound for ESU and recorded eight strikeouts to earn the win.
Dominican recorded four hits in the loss. Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) finished the game with two hits while Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.) and Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) each added one hit.
The Warriors opened the game with three runs in the first inning and two runs in the second inning for the early 5-0 lead. The Warriors added four runs in the fourth inning and held Dominican in the fifth inning on their way to the 9-0 win.
ESU was led by Reilly Vicendese who recorded two doubles and added three RBIs. Molly Nies added a two-run homer while Jada Smallwood added a triple and one RBI.
Game Two: A late inning rally fell short in game two by Dominican as ESU completed the sweep with a 10-6 victory.
Leigh Ann Jenkins recorded the victory on the mound for ESU and recorded four strikeouts.
Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) led Dominican with four RBIs and two doubles. Walker's first double came in the first inning which put the Lady Chargers in front 2-0 early.
The score remained until the fourth inning when the Warriors scored three runs to take the lead and then added three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-2 lead.
Giovanna Salcido homered in the sixth inning to cut the ESU lead to 6-3.
The Warriors rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 10-3 over Dominican.
The Lady Chargers rallied in the top of the seventh inning to cut the deficit to 10-6 after an RBI-double by Nicole Mata (Sylmar, Calif.) and Madison Walker's second two-RBI double of the game but the Warriors secured the win.
Dominican returns home and returns to conference play this Tuesday when they host Felician University. Game one is scheduled for 2:30 PM and game two will follow at 4:30 PM.
