Bloomfield, N.J. (4/4/23) The Dominican University New York softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep against the Bears of Bloomfield College this afternoon.

Bloomfield, N.J. (4/4/23) The Dominican University New York softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep against the Bears of Bloomfield College this afternoon.
Dominican now holds a record of 5-23 overall and 1-9 in conference play.
Game One: Dominican fell in game one to the Bears by a score 5-3. Emily Baxter (Bucoda, WA) started for the Lady Chargers and recorded six strikeouts over six innings pitched but suffered the loss.
Jillian Holmes entered in relief for the Bears and pitched 2.1 innings to record her second win of the season.
Both teams scored two runs in the first inning. Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.) put Dominican on the board with a two-run double.
The Bears tied the game in the bottom half of the first inning after an RBI-single by Raelyn D'Onofrio.
A Danielle Walters double in the third inning gave the Bears a 3-2 lead. The Lady Chargers tied the game after a solo homer by Salcido who drove in her third run of the game.
The Bears regained the lead in the fifth inning after back to back RBI-singles to complete the game one victory.
Game Two: The Bears edged Dominican in game two after a seventh inning comeback.
Trailing 6-3 in the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Chargers rallied for seven runs to take a 10-6 lead. Salcido hit a three-run homer for her third home run of the day to tie the game at 6-6.
Toni-Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) brought home the go ahead run with an RBI-single. Chloe McIntosh (Menifee, Calif.) smacked the second three-run homer of the inning to extend the Dominican lead to 10-6.
The score remained 10-6 until the bottom of the seventh when the Bears rallied for five runs to comeback and win the game. The Bears loaded the bases and back to back singles by Jenna O'Reilly and Audrianna Ortiz cut the lead to 10-8.
A hit by pitch made the score 10-9 and Daniela Vidal recorded the game winning two-run single.
The Lady Chargers will return to action this Thursday when they host Post University.
