TIGERS EARN SWEEP OVER DOMINICAN SOFTBALL

The Lady Chargers fall to 8-30 overall and 4-14 in conference play while the Tigers improve to 15-25 and 11-9.
Game One: The game was scoreless through the first two and a half innings until the Lady Chargers struck first in the bottom of the third inning.
Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) singled for the first Dominican hit of the game and Emma Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) followed with an RBI-double that drove in Haggerty all the way from first.
Dominican held the 1-0 lead until the top of the seventh when the Tigers rallied for six runs to take a 6-1 lead.
A two-RBI double by Madison Grubb gave the Tigers the lead. Angelina Brensen followed with an RBI-triple to extend the lead to 3-1 and later scored on a single by Lauren Hagy. Holy Family added two more runs before the inning was over and entered the bottom of the seventh up 6-1.
Dominican got one run back in the bottom of the seventh after an RBI-double by Jalaeya LaPorte (Sylmar, Calif.).
Tigers starting pitcher Paige Tidaback held Dominican to two runs to finish the complete game victory and improved to 5-5 on the year.
Emily Baxter (Bucoda, WA) threw a complete seven innings for Dominican and struck out six batters but suffered the loss.
Game Two: Tigers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after an RBI-single by Emma Clayborne.
Dominican answered in the bottom of the first inning after a two-run homer by Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) put the Lady Chargers ahead 2-1. Walker's first inning homer was her ninth of the year.
The Tigers struck for three runs in the top of the second inning to retake the lead 4-2. Rylee Hobel tied the game with an RBI-double and Madison Grubb followed with a double that drove in Hobel for the lead. Clayborne extended the lead with her second RBI of the game.
Dominican cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the third inning after Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) doubled and Walker singled her in for her third RBI of the game.
The Tigers took a two-run advantage in the top of the fourth inning after Emma Clayborne's third hit and third RBI of the game. The Tigers added a run in the sixth inning for a 6-3 lead after Madison Grubb's fourth hit and second RBI of the game.
Grubb then added her fifth hit of the game and drove in her third RBI for the 7-3 lead.
Dominican cut the deficit to one run in the bottom of the seventh inning after Chloe McIntosh (Menifee, Calif.) singled, Walker singled for her fourth hit of the game, and Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.) hit her 12th homer on the season.
Makenna Patterson held Dominican at six runs to complete her sixth win of the season. Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) started for Dominican and pitched a complete seven innings but suffered the loss.
The Lady Chargers return to action on the road on Saturday against Georgian Court University for a CACC doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
