Waterbury, Conn. (4/24/24) The Dominican University New York softball team split a CACC doubleheader with the Eagles of Post University this afternoon.
The Lady Chargers took game one by a score of 6-2 but fell in game two by a score of 9-1.
Dominican now holds a record of 11-26 overall and 8-12 in conference play.
Game One: The Lady Chargers opened the doubleheader with a 6-2 victory in game one.
Emily Baxter (Bucoda, Wash.) earned her career high ninth win of the season while striking out 10 batters.
The Lady Chargers scored four runs in the third and two runs in the fourth.
Haylee Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) went 2-4 and drove in three RBIs while smacking her seventh homer of the season in the third inning. Ridge also finished with a double.
Chloe McIntosh (Menifee, Calif.) went 2-4 with an RBI-double while Emma Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) also went 2-4 with an RBI.
Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar Calif.) and Rosemary Espinoza (Beaumont, Calif.) each added two while Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) finished with an RBI-single.
Game Two: The Eagles bounced back in game game two defeating the Lady Chargers 9-1.
The Lady Chargers scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning after Ridge singled in McIntosh for the 1-0 lead.
Post scored nine unanswered runs on their way to the 9-1 victory in five innings.
Caitlin DeAngelis, Samantha Riccardulli, and Lily Tomasiello each recorded three hits for the Eagles. Riccardulli and Tomasiello each drove in three runs.
McIntosh finished with one hit while Ridge finished with two hits.
The Lady Chargers return home tomorrow for their regular season finale and Senior Day against Wilmington University.
