
LOPEZ NAMED TO 2024 CACC SOFTBALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

New Haven, Conn. (5/28/24) Seventy-six (76) student-athletes on Tuesday were named to the 2024 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. All 12 CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.
Post University led all schools with 12 honorees to make the All-Academic Team. Goldey-Beacom College had 10 named to the unit.
Dominican University New York's Toni-Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) was named to the team for the second time in her career.
NOTES ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
♦ Five student-athletes -- University of Bridgeport's Emily Chase, GBC's Gabriella Monzo, Post's Alyssa Hughes, Brianna Hynds and Wilmington University's Haley Downin -- posted perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point averages.
♦ Fifteen (15) student-athletes posted GPAs of 3.90 or higher.
♦ Post's Samantha Riccardulli and Juliana Rigano were named to the unit for the fourth time in their respective careers.
♦ Eighteen (18) were named to the unit for the third time in their respective careers.
♦ Eighteen (18) were named to the team for the second time in their respective careers.
♦ The eight teams to qualify for the CACC playoffs combined to have 51 student-athletes earn All-Academic status.
To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must: a) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of immediate preceding term (may include summer for fall sport participants); b) Minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) Student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution (both academically and athletically).
