Clermont, Fla. (3/4/25) The Dominian University New York softball team lost two games today at The Spring Games as they fell to Concordia-St. Paul and Ashland University.
Following the losses, the Chargers now stand at 2-4 on the season.
Game One: The Lady Chargers put three runs on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning on an error and a two-run single down the right field line off the bat of third basemen Jalaeya LaPorte for the early lead.
The Golden Bears scored two runs in the fourth, six runs in the fifth and closed out the game with three runs in the sixth for 11-3 win.
Giovanna Salcido, Emma Kaszovitz, LaPorte and Emily Angulo all had a hit in the loss.
Lady Charger starter Emily Baxter took the loss.
Game Two: The Eagles scored three runs in the top of the first, but Dominican got two runs back in the bottom stanza as shortstop Chloe McIntosh hit an RBI double to left field and two batters later Adriana Barnes followed with a run-scoring double to right field to make the score 3-2.
Dominican scored two runs in the bottom of the second as Toni-Jo Lopez hit an RBI single to center field and later scored on a wild pitch to take a 4-3 advantage.
The Eagles re-tied the game with a run in the third and tacked on six more runs in their half of the fifth to jump out to a 10-4 lead. DUNY scored a run in the bottom of the fifth on the RBI groundout by Salcido for the eventual 10-5 final score.
Barnes collected two hits in the game.
Gianna Barbieri took the loss in four innings of work.
The Lady Chargers return to action at The Spring Games tomorrow.
