Clermont, Fla. (3/8/25) The Dominican University New York softball team came away with a split on the final day at The Spring Games.
The Lady Chargers opened the day with a 2-0 victory over Concord University, but fell to Winona State University, 9-1 in six innings.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when shortstop Chloe McIntosh delivered a two out run-scoring single up-the-middle for the 1-0 advantage.
DUNY added a run in the top of the seventh on the sacrifice fly ball hit to left field fromMcIntosh for the 2-0 win.
McIntosh finished with two RBIs, while centerfielderEmma Kaszovitz recorded two hits.
Pitcher Emily Baxter picked up the complete game victory, collecting five strikeouts.
Game Two: The Warriors held a 6-0 lead after their half of the third inning when Dominican plated a run on the RBI double off the bat of Nicole Mata.
WSU added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings en route to the 9-1 win.
Mata had one hit and one RBI, while Toni-Jo Lopez also had a hit in the loss.
Victoria Iorio suffered the loss in two innings of work.
Following their trip to Florida, the Lady Chargers now stand at 3-9 on the season.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 12 when they travel to East Stroudsburg University.
