Pleasantville, N.Y. (3/23/25) The Dominican University New York softball team lost a non-conference doubleheader to host, Pace University, in games played today at the Pace SB Complex.
Pace scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win game one, 5-4, and closed out the day with a 14-1 five inning victory in the nightcap.
With the loss, the Lady Chargers now stand at 5-17 on the season.
Game One: The Setters struck early with a three-run bottom of the first inning and held that lead until the top of the fourth when Dominican scored a run on a sacrifice fly ball off the bat of Jalaeya LaPorte to make the score 3-1.
Dominican scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 4-3 edge as designated player Adriana Barnes delivered a two-run double to left centerfield and Emily Angulo followed with an RBI single to centerfield. In the bottom of the seventh, a bases loaded walk tied the game for Pace and the next batter hit a run-scoring single for the 5-4 win.
Barnes and Chloe McIntosh had two hits each in the loss.
Reliever Victoria Iorio took the loss in two and 2/3 innings of relief.
Game Two: The Setter offense got to work early, scoring runs in each of the first three innings, to jump ahead 12-0. DUNY got on the board in the top of the fourth inning as a run scored on a double play.
Pace added two runs in the bottom of the fourth en route to the 14-1 win.
Gianna Barbieri suffered the loss in three innings of work.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Bloomfield College of Montclair State University.
