WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PICKED THIRD IN CACC PRE-SEASON COACHES POLL

New Haven, Conn. (10/30/24)  Post University and Thomas Jefferson University have been selected for first place in the North and South Division, respectively, in the 2024-25 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll. The voting was conducted by the conference's 12 head coaches and the results were announced today by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara.

Post (17-10, 12-4 in 2023-24) has won the CACC North Division regular-season title following each of the last four full seasons. Jefferson (32-2, 16-0) was the 2023-24 conference champion and has reached the last two NCAA Division II East Region finals.

The North Division saw four of its six teams receive first-place votes. The Eagles topped the balloting with 58 points and five first-place votes, followed by Felician University with 51 points and four top picks. Dominican University New York was third, collecting 50 points and two first-place votes, and chosen fourth was Caldwell University with 40 points and one first-place selection. The University of Bridgeport (5th, 29 points) and Bloomfield College (6th, 18 points) rounded out the North.

Jefferson picked up nine of 12 first-place votes in the South Division and 64 points overall. The other three No. 1 selections went to Holy Family University, which was second with 57 points. Chestnut Hill College was third with 45 points, followed by Goldey-Beacom College (4th, 38), Georgian Court University (5th, 26) and Wilmington University (6th, 16).

The 2024-25 regular season begins on Friday, November 8, with conference action slated to begin on Tuesday, December 3. The top four teams in each division will qualify for the CACC Championship tournament. The quarterfinals will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at campus sites, and Jefferson will host the semifinals and finals on March 8-9, 2025, at the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Convocation Center. The CACC champion will automatically qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division II East Region Championship.
