
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS SETTERS
Caldwell, N.J. (11/9/24) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team topped the Pace University Setters, 61-58, this afternoon in their second game of the Caldwell University Conference Challenge at the Newman Center.
With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 2-0 overall, while the Setters now stand at 0-2 on the season.
Graduate student Tanasha Mills led Dominican with 17 points (6-10 from the floor), six rebounds and three assists.
Cayla Howard added 12 points, while Tamia Nunes pulled down a game best 11 rebounds, scored nine points and two blocks.
Angelina DiMarsico aslo scored nine points, five rebounds and five assists in the win.
A Howard layup with 4:32 left in regulation gave DUNY a 59-53 lead, but the Setters scored the next five points to cut the lead to 59-58 with just over two minutes to play. A Pace fould with four seconds left sent Chidinma Ndukauba to the free throw line where she iced both attempts for the final 61-58 score.
The Lady Chargers led by as many as eight points (21-13) with 8:53 left in the second quarter on a jump shot by freshman Emma Gribben.
Dominican returns to action on Wednesday, November 13th when they travel to Thomas Jefferson University for a 6pm non-conference game.
