
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TURNED AWAY BY RAMS
Philadelphi, Pa. (11/13/24) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season in non-conference action to Thomas Jefferson University.
The Lady Chargers fall to 2-1 overall early on this season while the Rams improve to 2-0 overall.
The Rams outscored the Lady Chargers by two points in the first and fourth quarters. Dominican won the third quarter by two points but it was in the second quarter where the Rams outscored DU 21-13 and extended to their largest lead of the first half which was 10 points.
The Rams extended to their largest lead of the game in the third quarter which was 15 points before Dominican ended the third quarter on an 11-4 run.
DU would cut the deficit to one point late in the fourth quarter but TJU never lost the lead and solidified the 77-67 win.
Three Lady Chargers finished the game in double figures. Tanasha Mills led the way with 21 points and also added a team-high six assists.
Tamia Nunes finished with 15 points on 6-7 from the field including 3-4 from three-point range. Nunes also picked up seven boards. Cayla Howard recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Howard also provided five assists, three blocks, and one steal.
Chidinma Ndukauba scored eight points and added six boards, three steals, and two blocks.
The Rams held the edge in rebounds 38-35 as well as points in the paint 38-28. The Lady Chargers scored 11 fast break points and 14 points off of TJU turnovers.
The Lady Chargers return to action this weekend when they host the 11th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament.
