LADY CHARGERS EXTEND STREAK TO FOUR AS THEY UPEND DOLPHINS
Staten Island, N.Y. (11/26/24) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team extended their current winning streak to four games as they downed the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island in non-conference action.
The Lady Chargers, #6 in the D2CSC East Region Poll, improved to 6-1 overall on the season while CSI falls to 4-3.
Dominican opened the game with a first quarter scoring 27 points and held a 12 point lead by halftime.
The Lady Chargers held the Dolphins to 11 points in the third quarter as they extended their lead to 20 points and held a 57-37 advantage by the start of the fourth quarter.
Dominican extended to their largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter which was 28 points and eventually secured the 76-55 win.
Tanasha Mills scored a game high 20 points on 7-12 from the field including 4-6 from beyond the arc. Mills recorded a team-high eight assists as well as picking up three boards and three steals.
CACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week Cayla Howard scored 15 points on six field goals including three shots from three-point range. Howard also picked up six rebounds, two assists, and one block.
Chidinma Ndukauba recorded her first double-double of the season by scoring 13 points on 6-11 from the field and had a monster game on the boards with 16 rebounds.
Tamia Nunes scored nine points while Cloey Dopp provided eight points and three assists off the bench.
Delana Taylor added five points, three rebounds, and two assists off the bench while Angelina DiMarsico hit two three-pointers for six points and dished out three assists and picked up two steals.
Dominican finished the game shooting 46.2% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc. Dominican dished out a total of 27 assists and scored 17 points off of 19 CSI turnovers.
The Lady Chargers held a slight edge in points in the paint with 26 while CSI held the edge in rebounds.
Dominican returns to action this weekend at the Knights Thanksgiving Invitational.
