
GREYHOUNDS EDGE LADY CHARGERS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (12/15/24) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team dropped a close game to the Greyhounds of Assumption University in a non-conference game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
In this top 10 D2CSC East Regional match up, the #5 team Greyhounds edged the #6 team Lady Chargers 66-64.
Dominican falls to 9-3 overall on the season while Assumption improves to 8-2 overall.
The largest lead for Dominican was nine points while Assumption's largest lead was eight points. The game saw five ties and two lead changes.
Assumption got a boost off their bench from Grace Leary who finished with a game-high 17 points and Maeve Moriarty who added 11 points. Leary also picked up four boards.
Molly Stokes scored nine points while Kaijhe Hall pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Greyhounds shot 41.8% from the field and went 13-16 from the free-throw line. Assumption held the Lady Chargers under 10 points in the second quarter.
For the Lady Chargers, four players finished in double figures in points and shot 37.9% from the field. Dominican went 16-20 from the free-throw line for 80%.
Dominican was led by Tanasha Mills who scored 14 points while going a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe and recorded a team-high nine assists, four steals, and six boards.
Junior Cayla Howard finished with 13 points and pulled down five boards. Chidinma Ndukauba went 6-11 from the field for 12 points. Ndukauba also finished with a shared team-high seven boards while also picking up three assists, three steals, and one block.
Tamia Nunes added 11 points and six boards while Angelina DiMarsico added six points, seven boards, and one assist.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Wednesday when they visit Southern Connecticut State University.
