
NDUKAUBA, NUNES, AND MILLS COMBINE FOR 49 POINTS AS LADY CHARGERS DEFEAT MANSFIELD
Mansfield, Pa. (12/21/24) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team earned a non-conference win over the Mounties of Mansfield University to close out the 2024 calendar year.
The Lady Chargers, #6 in the D2CSC East Region Poll, improves to 10-4 overall on the season while Mansfield falls to 5-6 overall.
Center Chidinma Ndukauba recorded her second double-double of the season as she scored a season high 17 points and added 11 boards. Ndukauba went 7-13 from the field and 3-5 from the charity stripe while also adding a team-high three steals, one assist, and one block.
Ndukauba was joined by Tamia Nunes and Tanasha Mills as the trio combined for 49 of their 66 points.
Nunes finished the game with 16 points and just shy of a double-double with nine boards. Nunes went 7-11 from the field while adding a three-pointer and recorded three assists and two steals.
Mills also scored 16 points while scoring half her points from the charity stripe going a perfect 8-8. Mills picked up six rebounds and a team-high four assists.
Emma Gribben scored seven points and recorded five rebounds while Isabella Javier scored six points. Dalana Taylor pulled down eight boards.
Dominican scored 17 points in each of the first two quarters. The Mounties used a strong third quarter to jump in front and held DU to 12 points.
The Lady Chargers put up 20 points in the fourth quarter and outscored the Mounties 8-3 down the stretch to solidify the win.
Today's back and forth contest saw 16 ties and 12 lead changes. Dominican had a strong effort on the boards as they outrebounded Mansfield 46-33. Dominican shot 41% from the field and 81% from the free-throw line going 17-21.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Saturday, January 4th when they return home and return to conference play to host Thomas Jefferson University at 3:00 PM.
