
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS THOMAS JEFFERSON UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/4/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team improved to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating the visiting Rams of Thomas Jefferson University, 72-63, this afternoon in a game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
With the win Dominican improves to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
The game featured 10 lead changes and 12 tied scores with neither team leading by more than nine points. The Lady Chargers outrebounded the Rams, 39-34 and shot 50% from the floor.
Dominican led 52-50 after three quarters of play, but the Rams opened up the final quarter with a 9-2 run to reclaim a 59-54 lead with just under eight minutes to play. The DUNY offense countered with nine straight points, all coming off three-point baskets, two by Angelina DiMarsico and one by Emma Gribben to pull in front 65-59 with 4:52 on the clock.
DiMarsico and Dalana Taylor score back-to-back baskets over 16 seconds to build up a 71-63 advantage and Tamia Nunes closed out the game with a free throw for the final 72-63 victory.
Guard Tanasha Mills led four players in double figures with 19 points and completed the double-double with 12 assists.
Nunes finished with 14 points and eight rebounds, while DiMarsico tallied 13 points and eight rebounds.
Center Chidinma Nduakauba scored 12 points and six caroms in the win.
Taylor recorded eight points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Chargers return to action next Saturday when they travel to Goldey-Beacom College.
