
DOMINICAN DEFEATS LIGHTNING
Wilmington, Del. (1/11/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team defeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, Goldey-Beacom College, 74-69, this afternoon in a game played in the Joseph West Jones Center.
With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 12-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Dominican held a 31-28 advantage with 4:07 left in the second quarter when the Lightning went on a 9-5 closing period run to claim a 37-36 lead at the intermission.
The Lady Chargers rallied to take their biggest lead of the game, 56-45, with 4:03 to go in the third on a jumper by Cayla Howard, but GBC was able to cut the deficit to four points (58-54) heading into the final quarter.
An 8-0 spurt to begin the quarter by the Lightnining gave them a 62-58 edge, however both teams would later see the game tied at 67-all with 2:02 to go. Tanasha Mills and Chidinma Ndukauba closed out the contest by hitting two free throws each for the 74-69 victory.
Ndukauba led the five starters in double figures with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
Guard Tamia Nunes scored 13 points and five boards, while Angelina DiMarsico added 12 points, seven caroms and three steals in the win.
Mills finished with 11 points and a team best seven assists with Cayla Howard recording 10 points and seven rebounds.
Dominican returns to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Bloomfield College of Montclair State Unviersity in CACC North Division action.
