
LADY CHARGERS UPEND LIONS FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT WIN
Lakewood, N.J. (1/25/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team made it seven straight wins this afternoon after defeating the Lions of Georgian Court University in CACC action at the GCU Wellness Center.
Dominican, #4 in the D2CSC East Region Poll, improves to 16-4 overall and 8-0 in conference play. The Lions fall to 3-17 overall and 3-5 in the CACC.
Dominican opened the game with a 19 point effort in the first quarter and held GCU to nine first quarter points.
Dominican outscored the Lions 16-14 in the second quarter and built a double digit lead by halftime.
The Lady Chargers extended to a 19 point lead in the third quarter, their largest of the game, but the Lions fought their way back using a 14-2 run to end the quarter and cut the DU lead to seven points.
Dominican answered by building the lead back to double digits and didn't look back on their way to the 62-52 victory.
Tanasha Mills led all scorers with 21 points on 8-14 shooting from the field and 4-5 from the charity stripe. Mills also contributed a team-high five assists and four rebounds.
Junior guard Cayla Howard went 6-14 and 2-2 from the free-throw line for 14 points while picking up five boards and one block.
Angelina DiMarsico and Chidinma Ndukauba each scored 11 points. DiMarsico hit a team-high three shots from beyond the arc while adding four boards, three assists, and three steals. Ndukauba recorded her fifth double-double on the year with 10 boards to go along with her 11 points and added a team-high four blocks.
Sophomore guard Tamia Nunes scored five points while adding three assists and one rebound.
Dominican scored half their points in the paint with 30 and forced 17 GCU turnovers collecting 15 points off of turnovers.
The Lady Chargers return home Tuesday night when they host CACC north division rival Caldwell University on Coach Baxter Court at 5:30 PM.
