
BIG FOURTH QUARTER LIFTS LADY CHARGERS OVER COUGARS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/28/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team used a big fourth quarter to complete the comeback victory over Caldwell University to extend their winning streak to eight straight games.
Dominican put up 33 points and held CU to 17 points in the fourth quarter to lift them over the Cougars.
The Lady Chargers, #4 in the D2CSC East Region Poll, improves to 17-4 overall and 9-0 in conference play.
Sophomore guard Tamia Nunes and junior guard Cayla Howard each finished with a team-high 17 points. Nunes also recorded four boards, two steals, and one assist. Howard also added four boards, two assists, one steal, and one block while also going 7-7 from the free-throw line.
Tanasha Mills went 4-7 from the field, 7-8 from the charity stripe, and added one three-pointer for 16 points. Mills pulled down nine rebounds and dished out a team-high four assists.
Angelina DiMarsico recorded a double-double on 14 points and 10 boards. DiMarsico added a team-high five steals and three assists. Chidinma Ndukauba contributed nine points, eight boards, and two assists.
The Cougars led the Lady Chargers through the first three quarters. Dominican used a 16-6 run capped off by a DiMarsico three-pointer to give the Lady Chargers their first lead of the game.
Dominican continued the run and never lost the lead on their way to the victory. DiMarsico, Mills, and Howard combined for 29 of their 33 points in the fourth quarter. Dominican shot 57.1% from the field in the final frame and went 14-15 from the free-throw line which helped solidify the comeback.
The Lady Chargers return to action this Saturday when they host Holy Family University for a conference battle with the Tigers in the 24th Annual Sue Heller Memorial Game.
