
LADY CHARGERS FALL TO TIGERS IN THE 24TH ANNUAL SUE HELLER MEMORIAL GAME
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/1/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team suffered their first conference loss of the season to the Tigers of Holy Family University.
The Tigers, #2 in the D2CSC East Region Poll and #19 in the D2CSC National Poll, extend their current winning streak to 10 games and improved to 18-3 overall and 10-0 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers suffered their first conference loss of the season and their winning streak snaps at eight. Dominican entered today's game the #4 team in the D2CSC East Region Poll and fall to 17-5 overall and 9-1 in the CACC.
Today's game was the 24th Annual Sue Heller Memorial Game. Prior to the start of today's game, junior Cayla Howard was presented the Sue Heller scholarship.
Both teams scored 15 points in the opening quarter and HFU outscored DU 19-7 in the second quarter and took a 34-22 lead into halftime.
Dominican opened the third quarter on a 16-3 run to regain the lead. HFU answered and held a seven point edge heading in the fourth quarter.
Dominican tied the game at 50-50 after opening the final frame on a 10-3 run. Dominican built a lead late in the quarter. A three-pointer by Angelina DiMarsico gave DU a 64-59 lead with two minutes left to play.
HFU finished the game on a 10-3 run over the last 1:46 left to play to secure the win.
Howard finished the game with a team-high 16 points while DiMarsico finished with 15 points including three field goals from three-point range and added five boards and three assists.
Tamia Nunes recorded a career high 14 boards while scoring 13 points for a double-double and dished out seven assists.
Tanasha Mills scored 12 points while Chidinma Ndukauba finished with 11 points and pulled down seven boards.
The Tigers were led by Amy Ngo who led all scorers with 19 points off the bench. Taylor Hinkle recorded a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 20 boards. Lola Ibarrondo scored 13 points while Carolyn Prevost finished with 12 points.
The Lady Chargers will look to bounce back next Wednesday when they visit Post University.
