
LADY CHARGERS DROP CONFERENCE GAME TO GRIFFINS
Philadelphia, Pa. (2/8/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team fell in CACC action to the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College at the Sargenti Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
Dominican, #4 in the D2CSC East Region Poll, falls to 18-6 overall and 10-2 in conference play. The Griffins improve to 13-11 overall and 9-3 in conference play after the 71-62 victory.
Chidinma Ndukauba went 7-11 from the field scoring a team-high 14 points while also picking up rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.
Guards Cayla Howard and Angelina DiMarsico each scored 13 points. Howard also finished with six rebounds and two assists while DiMarsico added four boards and two assists. DiMarsico hit a team-high three shots from three-point range.
Tanasha Mills scored 11 points while dishing out a team-high five assists. Tamia Nunes finished with seven points while Dalana Taylor provided four points and three boards off the bench.
The Lady Chargers trailed by two points after the opening quarter but an 18 point effort in the second quarter helped give DU a slight two point edge by halftime.
Both teams played a close third quarter and entered the final frame tied at 46-46. The Griffins sealed the win with a big fourth quarter scoring 25 total points with Tiayo Adelekan and Emily Sekerak combining for 17 of their 25 points.
The Griffins ended the game on a 10-3 run to solidify the 71-62 win. CHC was led by Adelekan who led all scorers with 29 points off the bench while pulling down a team-high 10 boards for a double-double.
Sekerak scored 10 points and picked up seven boards while Avery White recorded a team-high seven assists.
The back and forth contest saw 14 ties and seven lead changes. DU's largest lead of the game was five points in the second quarter while CHC's largest lead was 10 points in the fourth quarter.
CHC held the edge in rebounds, assists, second chance points, and points in the paint.
The Lady Chargers return home this coming Tuesday for a CACC north division showdown with the Bears of Bloomfield College of MSU at 5:30 PM on Coach Baxter Court.
