
LADY CHARGERS DEFEAT BLOOMFIELD, SWEEP SEASON SERIES
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/11/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team defeated CACC north division rival Bloomfield College of MSU by a score of 70-58 and earned the season sweep over the Bears.
The Lady Chargers, tied for #5 in the D2CSC East Region Poll, improved to 19-6 overall and 11-2 in the CACC.
BC held a five point lead after the first quarter but the Lady Chargers put up 21 points in the second quarter and held BC to 12 points as DU entered halftime with a 33-29 lead.
Dominican followed up their strong second quarter with another 20 point quarter in the third and took a 13 point lead into the fourth quarter.
The Bears cut the DU lead to four points but Dominican finished the game on a 13-5 run as they closed out the 70-58 victory.
Junior guard Cayla Howard led all scorers with 21 points and also pulled down 10 boards for a double-double. Howard finished the game 9-15 from the field and also added two steals and two blocks.
Chidinma Ndukauba recorded her team-leading seventh double-double on the season with 12 points and a team-high 12 boards. Ndukauba filled up the stat sheet also providing six assists and team-highs in steals with four and blocks with three.
Tanasha Mills also scored 12 points while also dishing out a team-high 10 assists for the third double-double on the game for Dominican. Tamia Nunes scored 14 points and recorded seven rebounds while Angelina DiMarsico scored six points while adding five boards and three assists.
Dominican finished the game 41.2% from the field while adding eight three-pointers. Dominican outrebounded BC 47-35 and also held the edge in points scored in the paint 38-20. Dominican recorded 15 takeaways and scored 16 points off BC turnovers.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host the University of Bridgeport.
