
MILLS AND HOWARD EARN ALL-CACC ACCOLADES
New Haven, Conn. (3/4/25) Thomas Jefferson University senior forward/center Cassie Murphy has been voted the 2024-25 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year. Murphy, who was also named to the All-CACC First Team, headlines the all-conference teams and major award winners announced today by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara. The voting was conducted by the conference's 12 head coaches.
Dominican had two players earn all-conference honors as Tanasha Mills was named to the All-CACC First Team and Cayla Howard was named to the All-CACC Second Team.
Mills earns her second All-CACC First Team honors in her career. She leads the CACC in assists, fourth in free-throw percentage and eighth in scoring.
Howard makes her first appearance on the All-CACC Second Team this season. She is third in the conference in blocked shots, 10th in scoring and 12th in rebounding.
Felician University freshman center Stephanie Formby was selected as the 2024-25 CACC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year. Formby was also elected to the All-CACC Second Team. Caldwell University sophomore guard Brooke Corbett was voted the Defensive Player of the Year, while Jefferson head coach Tom Shirley repeated as Coach of the Year. Georgian Court University is the winner of the 2024-25 Women's Basketball Team Sportsmanship Award.
Murphy, from Bethlehem, Pa., ranks sixth in the CACC in scoring with 15.2 points per game and second in rebounding at 9.6 per contest. The league's leading free-throw shooter at 87.6 percent, she is also tied for fifth in blocked-shot average (0.89). Murphy helped lead Jefferson to the CACC South Division regular-season title.
Formby's 17.0 points per game are third in the CACC and her rebound average of 7.5 is sixth. The Strathalbyn, Australia, native, who also averages 0.74 blocks while shooting 46.6 percent from the floor, was a four-time CACC Rookie of the Week.
Corbett, of Staten Island, N.Y., tops the CACC and ranks 17th nationally in Division II with 2.93 steals per game. She also averages 6.0 rebounds, including 4.1 on the defensive end. The Cougars sit fourth in the CACC in both scoring defense and field-goal percentage defense.
Shirley, selected by the league's directors of athletics communications, is the CACC Coach of the Year for the fourth time, including the third in a row. He has guided this year's Rams (22-6, 14-2 CACC) to a 13-game winning streak to end the regular season and the South Division's No. 1 seed for this week's conference championship tournament. On Feb. 19, he earned his 900th career victory.
Georgian Court, led by head coach Jasmina Perazic, was the coaches' choice for demonstrating class and character throughout the regular season.
