
#1 OVERALL SEED LADY CHARGERS DEFEAT #4 IN THE SOUTH GBC TO ADVANCE TO CACC SEMIFINALS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/4/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team defeated the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College in the CACC Women's Basketball Championship Quarterfinal round on Coach Baxter Court.
The #1 overall seed in the CACC Tournament, the Lady Chargers, secured the 76-61 victory to earn a spot in the CACC Semifinals on Saturday.
The Lady Chargers were led by Tanasha Mills who led all scorers with 27 points on 7-17 from the field and 12-13 from the charity stripe. Mills dished out a team-high seven assists and recorded five steals.
Angelina DiMarsico and Cayla Howard combined for 26 points with 13 points each. DiMarsico grabbed six boards while Howard grabbed eight boards and four steals.
Tamia Nunes scored 11 points while picking up three boards and two assists. Chidinma Ndukauba pulled down a team-high 10 boards.
The Lady Chargers opened the game with a strong first quarter extending to an 11 points lead. GBC cut the deficit to three points in the second quarter but Dominican went on a 10-0 run to extend to a 13 point lead. GBC scored the last six points of the half to cut the DU lead to 42-35.
GBC cut the DU lead to three points with seven minutes left to play in the fourth quarter. The Lady Chargers finished the game on an 18-5 run on their way to the 76-61 victory.
The Lady Chargers will travel to the Gallagher Center in Philadelphia, Pa. for the CACC Semifinals hosted by Thomas Jefferson University. Dominican will take on #2 seed in the south division Holy Family University for a 12:00 PM tip.
