
WOMEN'S BOWLING TAKES THIRD AT THE BUD WHITMAN MEMORIAL
New Castle, Del. (10/13/24) The Dominican University New York women's bowling team completed the Bud Whitmnan Memorial this afternoon with the Baker Match Play from Bowlerama in New Castle, Del.
The Lady Chargers went 4-1 on the day to improve to 7-3 overall on the season.
Dominican finished yesterday in fifth place and improved to third overall. DU opened the day defeating Kutztown University 892-842 and followed with an 825-813 victory over Coppin State University. The Lady Chargers finished the qualifying round with a 973-937 victory over Delaware State University to move up one spot into fourth place before the championship bracket.
Dominican faced #1 seeded Sacred Heart University in the opening round of the bracket and were edged in seven games 4-3. SHU opened the match up with a 3-0 lead but Dominican came charging back with three straight victories (197-185, 217-211, 236-193).
SHU completed the 4-3 win after taking the final game by a score of 198-172.
Dominican was then matched up with Kutztown University where they won the first three games but then fell in three straight before closing out the 4-3 victory in game seven 165-157. Dominican finished the tournamant in third place.
The Lady Chargers return to action next weekend when they travel to the Golden Bear Invite from Berks Lane in Sinking Spring, Pa. hosted by Kutztown University.
