
PHILADELPHIA UNIVERSITY BEATS WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Orangeburg, NY (4/25/11) The visiting Rams of Philadelphia University outscored the Lady Chargers, 9-3, in the final 10:14 of the game to pull out a 20-15 victory this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's lacrosse action played on the DC Lacrosse Field. With the loss Dominican falls to 7-7 overall and 6-5 in conference play, while Philadelphia improves to 9-6 overall and 9-2 in the CACC.

Sophomore attacker Brianna Blank (Point Pleasant, NJ) and freshman midfielder Maggie Brocklebank (Long Branch, NJ) led the Lady Charger offense with three goals a-piece.
Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ), Aubree Williams (Great Meadows, NJ) and Elizabeth Schmidt (Montgomery, NY) all scored two goals each in the loss.
Freshman goalie Amanda Caprio (Point Pleasant, NJ) made 13 saves in the game.
The Rams netted the first three goals of the contest when Blank netted her 25th goal of the season with 12:22 remaining in the first half to cut the deficit to 3-1. A Ram goal regained a two goal lead, but a 2-0 spurt by the Lady Chargers as Williams converted a free position shot and Blank netted her second goal of the game made the score 4-3 with 6:25 remaining in the half.
Two man-up goals by Philadelphia put them ahead 6-3, but Dominican once again rallied with two consecutive goals off the sticks of Brocklebank and Williams with Traci-Joan Muniz (Middlesex, NJ) recording an assist on William's goal to cut the lead to 6-5. After the Rams scored their seventh goal of the game, Brocklebank closed out first half scoring with her 23rd goal of the season with just three ticks on the clock to make the score 7-6 at the intermission.
Karlsen netted the second's half first of 22 goals scored on a free position shot to tie the game at 7-7. Less than a minute later, Philadelphia netted an unassisted goal to regain an 8-7 advantage. Back-to-back goals by Sarah Kiernan (Saugerties, NY) and Brocklebank in a span of 26 seconds saw the Lady Chargers take their first lead of the game, 9-8. Philadelphia answered back with their own 2-0 run to reclaim a 10-9 edge, but Schmidt and Blank put DC back infront, 11-10, with 14:27 to pllay.
Tied at 11-11 with 14:06 to go sophomore Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) netted a free position goal to earn her 15th goal of the year to make the score 12-11, but the Rams went on a 4-0 tear to go up 15-12. Olivia Antonopoulos (Baldwin, NY) cut the deficit to two goals (15-13) with just under eight minutes remaining in regulation, however two consecutive goals by the Rams gave them a four goal cushion (17-13).
Schmidt netted her eighth goal of the season to make the score 17-14 with 4:09 to play, however a 3-0 run by Philadelphia gave them a six goal lead and Karlsen ended the game with a goal with 0:01 on the clock for the final 20-15 Ram victory.
