WOMEN'S LACROSSE EARN PROGRAM'S FIRST APPEARANCE IN CACC TOURNAMENT
Orangeburg, NY (4/28/11) Georgian Court University has claimed the top seed for the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, which the Lions will host on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. GCU will be looking for its second consecutive title. Philadelphia University is the No. 2 seed, while Holy Family University and Dominican College are the No. 3 and 4 seeds.
Orangeburg, NY (4/28/11) Georgian Court University has claimed the top seed for the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament, which the Lions will host on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. GCU will be looking for its second consecutive title. Philadelphia University is the No. 2 seed, while Holy Family University and Dominican College are the No. 3 and 4 seeds.
Georgian Court will meet No. 4 Dominican in the semi-finals on Saturday at 1:00 pm. The Lions swept Dominican in the regular-season by scores of 18-3 and 21-10. The Lions have never lost a regular-season game against a CACC opponent (34-0), including a 21-10 victory over the Chargers Wednesday. The team's only loss to a CACC foe came in the 2009 conference championship match against Philadelphia. The Lions are 13-4 this season and went 12-0 in conference play. GCU defeated CACC opponents by an average score of 19-6, boasting a 225-72 scoring advantage in 12 games.
GCU is led by senior Ryan McGrath (59 goals, 42 assists). McGrath leads the CACC in points and assists and is second in goals. Goalkeeper Jennifer Molzon paces the conference in goals-against average (8.93) and save percentage (.445).
Dominican has qualified for the conference tournament for the first time after going 6-6 in conference play and 7-8 overall. The Chargers are led by Silje Karlsen's 42 points (33 goals, nine assists), while Brianna Blank has contributed 35 points on 27 goals and eight assists.
