
WOMEN'S LACROSSE SUFFERS FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS OF THE SEASON TO RAMS
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/11/23) The Dominican University New York women’s lacrosse team suffered their first conference loss this afternoon to the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University by a score of 19-14.

The Lady Chargers fall to 11-2 overall and 6-1 in the CACC this season. The Rams improve to 5-7 overall and 4-2 in the CACC.
Goalkeeper Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) started in net for the Lady Chargers and recorded seven saves but suffered the loss.
Melanie Goldstein started in net for the Rams and recorded seven saves and earned the win.
Madelyn Grella (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) led Dominican in goals scored with four and shots with nine. Grace DeStasio (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.) each scored three goals. Costello also added a team-high four assists to finish the game with seven points.
Erica Ortiz (Slate Hill, N.Y.) also finished with three goals and also recorded one assist for four points. Ortiz finished with a team-high eight draw controls while Ellie Brouwer (West Long Branch, N.J.) added one goal.
Erin Carr (Wall, N.J.) and Jenna Rigo (East Islip, N.Y.) each picked up a team-high three ground balls. Carr also added four draw controls while Jordana Tomasetti (Middletown, N.J.) recorded five draw controls.
The Rams were led by Madison Caffrey who scored five goals and added two assists. Ellie Lefton and Audrey Strock each scored three goals. Carina Raymond, Iris Gluck, and Lilly Kull each added two goals.
Gabby Modzelewski and Erin Avanzato each added one goal and one assist.
Both teams played an even first half with Jefferson's largest lead at two goals and Dominican's largest lead at three goals. Both teams entered halftime tied at 9-9.
Jefferson played a strong second half by scoring five goals in the third quarter and five in the fourth quarter. Defensively, the Rams held the Lady Chargers to five total second half goals.
The Rams scored three unanswered goals late in the third quarter to break an 11-11 tie. The Lady Chargers cut the lead to 14-12 before the end of the third quarter.
The Rams outscored Dominican 5-2 in the fourth quarter to solidify the 19-14 victory.
The Lady Chargers will look to bounce back on Saturday, April 15th when they travel to Chestnut Hill College for a CACC match up with the Griffins at 6:00 PM.
