
WOMEN'S LACROSSE SUFFERS FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN
West Haven, Conn. (3/2/24) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season this afternoon to the University of New Haven at Kathy Zolad Stadium in West Haven, Conn.
With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 2-1 overall while UNH improves to 1-1 on the season.
DU goalkeeper Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) started in goal for the Lady Chargers and made four saves but suffered the loss. Gabby Buscemi earned her first win in goal on the season and made 14 saves.
New Haven started the first half strong, scoring 12 goals and only allowing two Lady Charger goals to take a 12-2 lead into halftime.
Both teams scored four goals each in the second half and UNH secured the 16-6 victory.
Madelyn Grella (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) scored a team-high three goals for the Lady Chargers and led the team in shots with 13. Jordana Tomasetti (Middletown, N.J.) added two goals while Erica Ortiz (Slate Hill, N.Y.) scored one goal and recorded one assist.
Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.) recorded a team-high eight draw controls and picked up two ground balls while Erin Carr (Wall, N.J.) recorded four draw controls.
Cameryn Antler scored a game high five goals for New Haven and added one assist for six total points. Gianna Caprioli scored four goals and recorded one assist for five points while Katie Schenk scored two goals and added three assists for five points.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Tuesday afternoon for their home opener against Kutztown University at 2:00 PM on O'Brien Field.
