
DeSTASIO BECOMES PROGRAM'S ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER IN VICTORY OVER GRIFFINS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/22/24) Dominican University New York women's lacrosse player, Grace DeStasio (West Hempstead, N.Y.), became the program's all-time leading scorer today as the team defeated the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 18-1, in a game played on O'Brien Field.
With the win, Dominican improves to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
DeStasio led all scorers in the game with four goals and one assist. She recorded her 182nd career goal with 12:44 remaining in the third quarter to claim the top spot in program history in goals scored, breaking the previous record of 181 goals set by Alayna Heegan back in 2020.
Junior Erica Ortiz (Slate HIll, N.Y.) scored three goals and an assist, while Sydney Strohomayer (Rocky Point, N.Y.) netted two goals and one assist. Freshman Alexa Preston (Coram, N.Y.) added two goals.
Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.) dished out a game best seven assists and one goal and Madelyn Grella (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) scored one goal and four assists.
Meaghan Kennedy (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored her first collegiate goal, while Anna Kaminskey (Mount Sinai, N.Y.), Josie Lettieri (Deer Park, N.Y.), Jordana Tomasetti (Middletown, N.J.) and Ellie Brouwer (West Long Branch, N.J.) had the other Lady Charger goals.
Starter Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) made one save in 34 minutes of action, while Kathryn Ehrlinger (Levittown, N.Y.) had one save in the final 25 and a half minutes.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Felician University in CACC action on O'Brien Field.
