LADY CHARGERS FINISH 2024 REGULAR SEASON WITH A WIN ON SENIOR DAY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/25/24) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team earned a conference victory over Post University this afternoon on Senior Day.
Dominican took a 2-0 lead early in the game and Post answered with a goal by Lotanna Nwabudu. Dominican finished the first quarter with three straight goals and added nine goals in the second quarter and seven goals total in the second half on their way to the 21-1 win.
Prior to today's game, the Lady Chargers honored their three Seniors with a pregame ceremony. Seniors Grace DeStasio (West Hempstead, N.Y.), Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.), and Kristine Romero (West Hempstead, N.Y.) were recognized during the pregame ceremony.
The Lady Chargers finish the regular season with an overall record of 14-3 and a CACC record of 9-0. DU will be the #1 overall seed in the upcoming CACC Women's Lacrosse Championships and earned a bye into the semifinal round.
Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) recorded her 14th victory of the season in net and made two saves. Kathryn Ehrlinger (Levittown, N.Y.) entered the game in the second half and made three saves.
Erica Ortiz (Slate Hill, N.Y.) scored a team-high five goals and picked up one assist. Ortiz recorded eight draw controls including her 300th draw control of her career.
Grace DeStasio and Madelyn Grella (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) each scored three goals. Grella picked up five assists and DeStasio recorded two assists.
Caitlin Costello scored two goals and recorded eight assists for 10 total points and recorded her 300th career point. Costello also recorded two draw controls which included her 200th draw control of her career.
Sydney Strohmayer (Rocky Point, N.Y.), Anna Kaminskey (Mount Sinai, N.Y.), and Jordana Tomasetti (Middletown, N.J.) each scored two goals. Ellie Brouwer (West Long Branch, N.J.) and Lea Henke (Rocky Point, N.Y.) each added one goal.
Next up for the Lady Chargers will be the CACC Women's Lacrosse Championship Semifinals next Thursday, May 2nd on O'Brien Field. Opponent and time of the game TBA.
