
LADY CHARGERS DOWN SNHU IN SEASON OPENER
Sparkill, N.Y. (2/23/25) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team opened the 2025 regular season with a win over Southern New Hampshire University in non-conference action played on Spartan Field on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, N.Y.
The Lady Chargers move to 1-0 overall this season while the Penmen fall to 0-1.
Goalkeeper Kristinamarie Kaszovitz made 10 saves as she records her first win of the season in net.
Nicole Mirra and Abby Cole split time in net for SNHU and made a combined 13 saves in the loss.
The Lady Chargers started the game strong offensively jumping out to a 5-1 lead early in the second quarter. SNHU cut the deficit to 6-5 after a 4-1 run before halftime.
Dominican scored seven goals in the third quarter and held SNHU to three goals while adding three more goals in the fourth and held SNHU to one goal in the final frame on their way to the 16-9 win.
Grace DeStasio led the way for the Lady Chargers with five goals while also picking up four draw controls.
Caitlin Costello, Erica Ortiz, and Madelyn Grella each recorded a hat trick in the win. Costello also added four draw controls and picked up a team-high three assists. Grella took a team-high 11 shots while Ortiz picked up a team-high five draw controls.
Alexa Preston and Madison Mileti each scored one goal. Alivia Chieca finished with a team-high three ground balls while Jenna Rigo led in caused turnovers with six.
The Lady Chargers return to action next Sunday when they take on St. Thomas Aquinas College.
