
GRELLA , COSTELLO, AND DESTASIO COMBINE FOR 13 GOALS AS LADY CHARGERS DEFEAT GREYHOUNDS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/13/25) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team defeated non-conference opponent Assumption University by a score of 14-10 this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
The Lady Chargers led the whole way from early on in the first quarter as they improve to 2-1 overall. The Greyhounds fall to 1-3 overall.
Kristinamarie Kaszovitz and Emma Crater split time in goal for the Lady Chargers. Kaszovitz made seven saves in 44:28 of game action and recorded the win. Crater recorded four big saves, all in the fourth quarter, in 15:32 of game action.
Skylar Troyan got the start in goal for the Greyhounds and recorded 11 saves but suffered the loss.
Madelyn Grella and Grace DeStasio combined for 10 goals, five each, and Grella picked up one assist while also taking a team-high 12 shots. DeStasio picked up four draw controls and two groundballs.
Caitlin Costello finished with three goals while picking up an assist and a team-high five draw controls.
Jordana Tomasetti and Erica Ortiz each recorded one assist while Josie Lettieri scored one goal. Ortiz also recorded four draw controls. Sydney Strohmayer led the Lady Chargers in groundballs with three and caused turnovers with three.
Dominican scored the first goal of the game and shortly after the Greyhounds answered to tie the score 1-1. Grella scored the next three DU goals and the Lady Chargers would stay in front the rest of the way.
Dominican extended to their largest lead of the game in the second quarter which was five goals and took a 10-6 lead into halftime.
The Greyhounds outscored DU in the third quarter 4-2 and cut the deficit to two goals twice throughout the quarter. Dominican shutout the Greyhounds in the fourth quarter and two goals by DeStasio helped seal the victory.
The Lady Chargers return to action this Saturday on the road against Caldwell University for their CACC opener.
