
DeSTASIO AND GRELLA REACH MILESTONES IN VICTORY OVER WILDCATS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/26/25) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University, 19-8, this afternoon in a CACC game played on O'Brien Field.
Graduate student Grace DeStasio recorded her 100th career ground ball in the game and tied her career high with 10 game points on eight goals and two assists, while also added five draw controls.
Junior Madelyn Grella scored three goals and six assists for nine game points, including her 300th career point in the win.
Attacker Erica Ortiz also recorded a hat trick with three goals, while Caitlin Costello added two scores.
Freshman Madison Mileti tallied one goal and three assists, while Sydney Strohmayer and Jordana Tomasetti each had a goal.
Attacker Josie Lettieri also had an assist in the game.
Lady Charger goalie, Kristinamarie Kaszovitz made four saves.
Dominican opened the contest on a 4-0 run before the Wildcats would cut the gap to 4-2 at the end of one quarter of play.
The second quarter belonged to DUNY as they went on a 9-0 tear to cliam a 13-2 advantage at the intermission.
In the third quarter, Wilmington would outscore the Lady Chargers 4-3 to give DUNY the 16-6 lead and Dominican would close out the fourth period on a 3-2 run for the final 19-8 victory.
Dominian returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they host CACC foe, Georgian Court University, at 4pm on O'Brien Field.
