Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/17/24) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team earned a second half come from behind victory in their CACC opener over the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport.
Dominican improves to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play while the Purple Knights fall to 0-2-2 overall and 0-1 in the CACC.
Nelly Arvidsson started in goal for the Lady Chargers and made a season high nine saves to secure her third win of the season.
UB goalkeeper Angelina Griva made five saves but suffered the loss.
The Purple Knights held a 2-0 lead after a first half goal by Chloe Oudin and then a second half goal by Luiza Macedo. Angelina LoFranco picked up an assist on each goal.
At the 69:59 mark, DU was awarded a penalty kick where Isabella Wysocki connected to put the Lady Chargers on the board.
Dominican tied the game at 2-2 after Kaitlyn Zeeb sent a cross into the box and a UB defender tipped the ball into the net for an own goal. Zeeb picked up the assist.
In the 88th minute, off of a corner kick from Wysocki, Kelly Harris took a shot that hit the cross bar and deflected right to Logan Valdes who's shot also hit the cross bar and deflected to Zeeb who scored the goal to put the Lady Chargers ahead 3-2. Valdes picked up the assist on the game winning goal.
Dominican continues their homestand and conference play this Saturday when they host the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University at 12:00 PM on O'Brien Field.
