
DOMINICAN'S BIPASHA MEHN NAMED 2023 CACC WTEN PLAYER OF THE YEAR
New Haven, Conn. (10/17/23) Dominican University standout Bipasha Mehn on Tuesday was named the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Player of the Year as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Mehn was also placed on the All-CACC First Team as the league also announced its other major award winners and all-conference squads. The voting for the awards was conducted by the league's six head coaches in the sport.
In addition to Mehn, a pair of freshmen earned the CACC Rookie of the Year award including Elena Arena Guisasola (Chestnut Hill College) and Nahomi Quinonez (Goldey-Beacom College). Wilmington University's Troy Donato was named the CACC Coach of the Year and Dominican was tabbed as the Team Sportsmanship Award winner for demonstrating outstanding class and character throughout the regular season.
Mehn has played the majority of the season at the No. 1 singles spot in the Chargers' lineup as she is 5-2 in that slot and is 6-3 overall. In doubles action Mehn has joined up with teammate Selina Donecker at the No. 1 spot and the duo is 5-3 in that clip. Mehn reached the Round of 16 in the competitive ITA East Region Championship in mid-September in New York. She became the first Charger to reach that round.
Arenas Guisasola is 8-3 in singles play this year, including 8-2 at the No. 6 spot. She is 5-3 in singles play in conference matches. Arenas Guisasola has teamed up with Annika Wise to go 5-3 in doubles play, including 4-2 at the No. 3 lineup spot.
Quinonez owns a 6-4 singles record that included winning four of her first five matches at No. 4 singles and earning a promotion to third singles earlier this month. Quinonez and Macy Hendin-Walker also combined for a doubles win at the No. 2 spot this fall.
Donato was named the CACC Coach of the Year for leading Wilmington to the CACC Regular Season Championship and the No. 1 seed in this weekend's CACC Championship Tournament at Delcastle Tennis Center in Delaware.
