TUCKER FINISHES FIFTH AT FAST TRACK MEET

Staten Island, N.Y. (2/23/24)  The Dominican University New York women's track and field team competed at the Ocean Breeze Fast Track Meet held today at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

Senior Miranda Tucker (Nassau, Bahamas) had the high finish for the Lady Chargers as she took fifth place in the shot put throw.

RESULTS

  • Tucker had the high finish of fifth place in the shot put event with a throw of 11.23m ( 36' 10.25").
  • Freshman Tori Benson (Buffalo, N.Y.) also took part in the shot put and finished in 13th place with a throw of 9.36m (30' 8.5").
  • Freshman sprinter Tiara Cargill (Queens, N.Y.) took seventh place in the 60m dash witha  time of 8.53.  Jayda Jones (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) finished in 13th place with a time of 8.70, while Krystal Parris (Toronto, Canada) finished in 19th place with a time of 8.80.
  • In the 60m hurdles preliminaries, Kiana Thomas (Riviera Beach, Fla.) finished in 18th place with a time of 10.98.
  • Anna Murphy (Holbrook, N.Y.) competed in the 400m event where she took 23rd place with a time of 1:04.38.
  • In the 200m dash, Thomas finished in 64th place with a time of 28.92.  Cargrill finished in 65th place with a time of 28.93, while Jones took 66th place with a time of 29.20.  Parris had a time of 29.82 to finish in 74th place.

The team returns to action on Saturday, March 23rd when they take part in the Purple & Gold Invite, hosted by West Chester University.
