DOMINICAN TURNS BACK CONCORDIA CLIPPERS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/7/15) The Dominican College women's volleyball team turned back the visiting Clippers of Concordia College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-22) this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/7/15) The Dominican College women's volleyball team turned back the visiting Clippers of Concordia College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-22) this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
With the win, Dominican improves to 6-23 overall and 6-11 in conference play.
Dominican took advantage of a .345 attack percentage (13 kills, 3 errors) in the first set to cruise to the 25-17 win. Kelly Murphy (Evergreen, Colo.) and Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.) recorded four kills a-piece.
The Lady Chargers led 17-12 in the second set, but the Clippers later fought back and claimed a 23-20 advantage. DC countered with the next five straight points, including back-to-back kills from Yeoman during the run to rally and take the set, 25-23.
DC never trailed in the final set, but Concordia did pull within a point (21-22) with a service ace. The Lady Chargers went on to score the next three of four points for the 25-22 win and 3-0 match victory.
Yeoman and junior Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.) paced Dominican with nine kills each in the win, while Yeoman added five block assists.
Murphy and senior Ashley Joyner (Edgewood, Md.) finished with six kills each with Murphy adding 10 defensive digs and four block assists.
Libero Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) provided 10 digs, while setter Amanda Hallstein* (Holtsville, N.Y.) had a match best 27 assists.
The Lady Chargers will honor their seniors this coming Tuesday as they take on CACC foe, Post University.
