Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/20/19) The Dominican College women's volleyball team hosted the Dominican College Tri-Match on Friday. DC took on non-conference opponents Millersville University and Southern New Hampshire University.
Match One: The Chargers opened the tri-match with Millersville University. The Marauders swept the Chargers 3-0 in the match. The Marauders took the first set by a score of 25-15, the second 25-3, and the third 25-14. Millersville improved their record to 7-3 and the Chargers fall to 0-6.
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) scored a team-high five points and three kills for the Chargers. Mykalee Chambers (Bronx, N.Y.) finished the game with four points and four kills. Malia Robinson (Jersey City, N.J.) and Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) each scored three points. Sara Hayward (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) led the team in assists with seven and Essence Boyd (Peekskill, N.Y.) added five assists.
Jayci Suseland scored a team-high 12.5 points and recorded twelve kills in the win. Katie Laughman led the team in assists with 22. Courtney Turocy led the team in digs with seven in the win.
Match Two: The Chargers took on the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University in their second match of the day. The Penmen defeated the Chargers 3-0 to improve their record to 4-5 overall on the season. The Chargers fell to 0-7 overall after the loss.
The Penmen took the first set by a score of 25-15, followed it up with a 25-12 win in the second set and completed the sweep with a 25-15 win in the third set.
Chambers and Knopf each scored three points for the Chargers. Knopf also recorded eight digs. LaPier scored four points and recorded eight digs and four kills. Jasmine Ramirez-Alfaro (Greenburgh, N.Y.) recorded four digs in the loss. Hayward added six assists while Boyd finished with four assists.
Baylee Lippincott led the way with 12.5 points and nine kills for the Penmen. Juliana Pacini scored ten points and recorded nine kills along with eight digs.
Irem Bat scored 8.5 points and led the way in digs with 13. Angela Crosetti finished the game with 12 digs. Joanne Coffey led the team in assists with 15 and Ainsley Knox also added 12 assists.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they host conference opponent the Caldwell University Cougars on Tuesday, September 24th at 7:00 PM.
