
VOLLEYBALL COMPLETES HOME STAND WITH A WIN OVER GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/19/23) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team completed their homestand with a non-conference win over the College of Saint Rose in five sets.
The Chargers improve to 3-9 overall on the season while the Golden Knights fall to 3-8 overall.
Dominican took the first two sets of the match but Saint Rose fought their way back with wins in the third and fourth sets, setting up a fifth and deciding set.
The Chargers trailed in the fifth set 6-3 before going on an 8-2 run to jump ahead of the Golden Knights 11-8. Saint Rose battled back to tie the Chargers at 12-12 before Dominican scored the last three points to secure the 3-2 victory.
Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla,) led the way with 19 kills, which tied a season high and 22 points scored. Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) added 15 kills, 17 points, and 15 digs. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) recorded a team-high 28 digs which was a season high.
Maura Asadourian (Schertz, Texas) added a match-high 32 assists while Layla Shipley (Latham, N.Y.) recorded 14 assists.
Saint Rose was led by Teresa Moulder who finished with 18 kills and 20 points. Katelyn Atchinson added a team-high 27 digs while Alandra Hasbrouck added 27 assists
The Chargers return to conference play on Thursday when they travel to Post University for a CACC contest with the Eagles at 7:00 PM.
