
CHARGERS SWEEP FELICIAN UNIVERSITY FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN
Rutherford, N.J. (9/23/23) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team earned their third straight victory this afternoon after completing a sweep over CACC opponent Felician University.
The Chargers improve to 5-9 overall and 3-0 in the CACC while the Golden Falcons fall to 3-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) and Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) combined for 21 kills and 30.5 points to lead the Chargers over the Golden Falcons.
Dominican opened the match with a 25-22 victory despite a late 6-0 run for Felician. Dominican rolled in the second set 25-10 as they used a 19-4 run to take a 2-0 match lead.
The Chargers completed the sweep with a 25-21 win in the third set. Felician started off the third set strong with a 10-3 run. The Chargers answered by outscoring the Golden Falcons 13-5 to fight back and take the lead.
Dominican finished off the win after scoring seven of the last ten points to complete the sweep.
Carr also led the team in digs while Perez finished with a team-high five service aces and recorded six digs. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) and Kaeden Sanstead (Scottsdale, Ariz.) each recorded 10 digs for the Chargers and Sanstead also added a team-high 25 assists.
Savannah Tody (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) each added six kills. Tody also added 10 points and a team-high four block assists while Ellis scored 7.5 points and recorded three block assists.
Dominican returns to action next Wednesday, September 27th when they visit the Bears of Bloomfield College for an 8:00 PM CACC contest.
