
VOLLEYBALL EXTENDS WINNING STREAK TO FOUR IN VICTORY OVER BEARS
Bloomfield, N.J. (9/27/23) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team won their fourth straight match tonight after a 3-1 victory over Bloomfield College of Montclair State University.
The Chargers improve to 6-9 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The Bears fall to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The Chargers fell in the opening set of the match but bounced back to win three sets in a row to secure the 3-1 victory.
Dominican used a 7-2 run late in the second set to extend the lead on their way to a 25-20 win to tie the match 1-1.
The Chargers opened the third set on a 9-3 run and continued their strong play to extend to a 20-12 lead. A late push by the Bears cut the deficit but the Chargers completed another 25-20 victory to take a 2-1 advantage.
The Chargers took control of the fourth set early after a 10-3 run extended their lead and they never looked back for the 25-15 win to secure the 3-1 match victory.
Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) and Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) combined for 28 kills with 14 each. Perez also added 17.5 points and seven digs while Carr added 16 points and five digs.
Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) added 10 points, nine kills, and two block assists. Savannah Tody (Minneapolis, Minn.) also finished with 10 points scored and a team-high three service aces.
Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) added a team-high 17 digs while Kaeden Sanstead (Scottsdale, Ariz.) added a team-high 33 assists and recorded 11 digs.
The Chargers return to action next Thursday, October 5th when they host the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport at 7:00 PM in the Hennessy Center.
