
PURPLE KNIGHTS SNAP WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL WINNING STREAK
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/5/23) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team saw their four match winning streak end tonight as they suffered a 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss to the visiting Purple Knights from the University of Bridgeport.
With the win Bridgeport improves to 13-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play, while the Lady Chargers fall to 6-10 overall and 4-1 in the CACC.
Dominican won the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-23, but the Purple Knights rallied to take sets three and four (25-21, 25-20) to tie the match at 2-all. UB won the deciding set 15-4 for the 3-2 match win.
Junior Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) paced Dominican with 21 kills (23.5 points) and nine digs.
Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fal.) added 14 kills and 14 digs in the loss, while Kaeden Sanstead (Scottsdale, Ariz.) tied her career high with 49 assists and 13 digs.
Libero Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) tallied 10 digs and Abigail Thompson (Aledo, Texas) added 13 digs.
Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) recorded nine kills and four block assists with (Minneapolis, Minn.) finishing with three block solos and seven kills.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow evening when they host D'Youville University in non-conference action on Coach Baxter Court.
