
CHARGERS RALLY TO EARN SEASON SWEEP OVER CALDWELL
Caldwell, N.J. (10/11/23) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team snapped their three game losing streak with a CACC north division victory over the Cougars of Caldwell University.
The Chargers improve to 7-12 overall and 5-2 in the CACC while the Cougars fall to 1-14 overall and 1-8 in the CACC.
After falling in the opening set, the Chargers rallied for three straight victories to secure the 3-1 match win.
Dominican controlled the second set after getting off to a strong start and finished on a 10-4 run to tie the match 1-1.
Dominican held a late lead in the set 18-13 over CU. The Cougars used a 7-2 run to comeback and tie the set at 20-20. The Chargers held off the CU comeback and secured the third set 25-22.
Dominican rolled in the fourth set as they started off strong on an 8-1 run. Dominican continued their strong play in the fourth set and never looked back on their way to a 25-10 victory and secured the 3-1 match win.
Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) led the way for the Chargers with 20 points, 17 kills, and 11 digs. Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) added 15 digs, 13.5 points, and 10 kills. Lindley McCutcheon (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) finished with 13 points, seven kills, and a team-high six service aces.
Savannah Tody (Minneapolis, Minn.) recorded nine kills and added 12 points while Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) finished with seven kills and seven points. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) had a team-high 18 digs and Kaeden Sanstead (Scottsdale, Ariz.) finished with a team leading 38 assists.
Dominican returns home this Saturday for a doubleheader. The Chargers open the day with a CACC match up with the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College at 12:00 PM and then will take on Pace University in non-conference action at 3:00 PM.
