WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SPLITS IN TWINBILL

Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/14/23)  The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team went 1-1 in action today at the Hennessy Center as they defeated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, Goldey-Beacom College, 3-0 and followed with a 3-1 loss to non-conference opponent, Pace University.

Following the matches, Dominican now stands at 8-13 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

Match One:  Dominican won in straight sets: 25-13, 25-20, 25-16, while posting a team attack percentage of over .250 in each of the sets.  The first set saw the Chargers pick up 12 kills with only four erros for a .320 attack percentage.

Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) led the team with 14 kills (.273 attack percentage) and four digs.

Junior Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) tallied nine kills (.263 attack percentage), two digs and three block assists, while Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) added seven kills (.263 attack percentage) and three digs.

Savannah Tody (Minneapolis, Minn.) recorded six kills (a match best .556 attack percentage) and three block assists in the win.

Setter Kaeden Sanstead (Scottsdale, Ariz.) had a match best 32 assists and libero Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) had nine digs.

Match Two:  Pace took the opening set by the score of 25-23, while the Chargers evened the contest with a 25-21 second set win.  The Setters won the third and fourth sets by scores of 26-24 and 25-7 to take home the 3-1 win.

Freshman Sienna Hunter (Pine Bush, N.Y.) had a career high 12 kills and five digs in the loss.

Maura Asadourian (Schertz, Texas) led the team with 12 assists and Layla Shipley (Latham, N.Y.) who recorded 11 assists.

Libero Delaney Ott (Fairbanks, Alaska) had a match best 16 digs in the loss.

During the match, Carr reached the 700 career kill milestone.

The Chargers return to action on Thursday evening when they host Post University in CACC action at the Hennessy Center.
